2 Guiding Questions What is my responsibility in CTE PEIMS coding? What will happen if an incorrect code is used? How can I resolve coding issues?

3 Middle School PEIMS recording for Middle School is done twice a year:
Submission 1 in Fall (2nd 6wks) Submission 3 in Spring (5th 6wks) Students are coded 0 if they are not enrolled in a CTE course. Students are coded 1 if they are enrolled in a CTE Course.

4 Middle School Submission 3 in Spring (5th 6wks)
During the 5th 6wks, the CTE office will pull up CTE teacher rosters for Exploring Careers and Touch Systems Data Entry. Mrs. Gutierrez from the CTE office will send a copy of those rosters to the Asst. Principal responsible for PEIMS. The Asst. Principal will review the rosters to verify if the students are currently in and coded a 0 in Exploring careers or Touch Systems Data Entry.

5 Middle School Submission 3 in Spring (5th 6wks) Entry.
The Asst. Principal will then need to write a 1 next to the students name. Sign and Date it at the bottom of the document. Then return it to the CTE Department. Deadline to return the rosters to the CTE Department is April 22, 2016. The CTE department will then enter a 1 code for all the 5th 6wks CTE students. We will also change the 2nd 6wks back to 0.

9 What causes a CTE Fatal? How do we FIX it?

10 1. Students coded a 1 who are NOT currently in a CTE course 2
1. Students coded a 1 who are NOT currently in a CTE course 2. Students coded a 0 who ARE currently in a CTE course

12 High School-Participation Indicator Code
0 =Not Enrolled in a CTE Course 1=Enrolled in A CTE Course-currently enrolled in one CTE course as of fall snapshot date or completed a CTE course by end of school year 2= Participant in a Coherent Sequence of Courses-enrolled in a sequential course of study in the same program of study. This code is based on COMPLETION of course NOT INTENT to complete. 3=No longer used-may still appear for repeater repeater seniors will be completely phased out

13 What causes fatals Schedule changes- not only affect the code but also FUNDING Any NEW student enrolling-new student enrolls and placed in a CTE course enters with a 0 if not coded a 1 will cause a fatal. Using CTE service ID's for Non-CTE classes-difficult to identify as coding is based on current schedule. Student transcript must be used to research what code should be used.

14 Review What is my responsibility in CTE PIEMS coding?
What will happen if an incorrect code is used? How can I resolve coding issues?
