2 The Non-Conversion of FELIX
Acts The Book of Non-Conversions

3 Who Was Felix? He Was A Corrupt Roman Governor.
He Was Familiar With “The Way”. He Was An Adulterer. He Was A Murderer. He Was A Man Who Desperately Needed The Gospel, But Would He Accept It?

4 Nelson's Illustrated Bible Dictionary
“Felix was an unscrupulous ruler. In addition to having three wives, he considered himself capable of committing any crime and avoiding punishment because of his influence with the courts.”

5 New Unger's Bible Dictionary
“While in office he became enamored of Drusilla, a daughter of King Herod Agrippa, who was married to Azizus, king of Emesa, and through the influence of Simon, a magician, prevailed upon her to consent to a union with him.”

6 Paul’s Sermon It Shows Paul Geared His Teaching Toward His Audience.
It Shows Paul Was Not Worried About Offending Felix or Drusilla. Felix Wanted A Bribe, But Got So Much More.

7 Paul’s Sermon Righteousness – What Was Felix’s Idea of This?
Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age…”

8 Righteousness Rom. 4:13 “For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith.”

9 Paul’s Sermon Self-Control – How Is Righteousness Accomplished? 1 Cor 9:24-25 “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. And everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.” Gal. 5:19

10 Paul’s Sermon Judgment To Come – This Is What Life Is All About. Felix Didn’t Have To Answer To Anyone. Acts 24:21 “I shouted out while standing among them,' For the resurrection of the dead I am on trial before you today.’”

11 Judgment What Did He Say?
Rom. 2:1 Rom. 14:10-12 Judgment

12 Why Did Felix Remain Unconverted?
He Was Terrified By What He Heard (v. 25). It Was Easier To Delay Than To Obey. Delay Was Part of His Character (vs. 22, 25, 27).

13 Salvation Is Inconvenient
It Wasn’t Convenient For Felix To Put Away His Beautiful Wife Drusilla. It Wasn’t Convenient To Stop Living For Self. It Wasn’t Convenient To Rule In Righteousness. It Wasn’t Convenient To Repent.

14 What Became of Felix? He Was Charged With Misgovernment, Replaced, and Called Back To Rome (Ac. 24:27). He Escaped Death at the Hands of Caesar and Was Exiled To Gaul. He Died Shortly Later In Disgrace. There Is But One End For Those That Live By Convenience

15

16 Righteousness What Did Paul Say?
Rom. 4:3, 13 Rom. 5:17-19 Rom. 6:12-13 Righteousness
