12. Overview of EIDBI Benefit
MN EIDBI services:
Passed into law in 2013
Healthcare benefit
Provides medically necessary intensive treatment for ASD and related conditions (e.g. Rett Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders)
Design to address or treat functional skills and core developmental deficits
Providers parent/primary caregiver training and education

13. Principles of EIDBI
Target early identification and early intervention while recognizing that children with ASD and related conditions are often not identified until later in life
Individualized based on the values, goals, preferences, language and culture of each child and family
Promote the child’s optimal independence and participation in family, school and community life

14. Who is eligible for EIDBI?
Children from birth up to age 21 years
On Medical Assistance including MA managed care and MA-TEFRA
Have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or a related condition
Meet medical necessity as determined through a Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation (CMDE)

Children can be referred for a Comprehensive Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation by anyone
