English Writing Proficiency (EWP) Exam Tips At the beginning… Brainstorm and then outline your answer. Take minutes to plan in advance. Budget your time and move along. (15 minutes planning, 90 minutes writing, 15 minutes editing) Take a position and answer the question.

Use examples to support your points. At the end…. Save minutes at the end to edit. Check sentence structure and grammar.

How is the EWP exam graded
How is the EWP exam graded? The exam is evaluated for grammar and organization. Grammar Sentence structure Correct use of punctuation Word choice Verb construction Organization Thesis statement and introduction Clear paragraphs on one topic Good development using examples and logic. Personal anecdotes are OK. Fake statistics are too! A concluding paragraph

When can I get my EWP exam results?
Results will be available in approximately 2 weeks. An will be sent to all students when they are available. You must come in person to the Writing Centre to get them. Where is the Writing Centre? In the Library, second floor. Can I see my exam? Yes! Please book an appointment at the Writing Centre and we will review your exam with you. Original exams must be kept on file for one year. Please book an appointment online, through the Library web page.
