2 RAIHN provides 14 beds for homeless families in a cost-efficient way due to in-kind meals and housing provided by our faith communities. RAIHN is one of the few programs that keeps families together during their entire period of temporary displacement. RAIHN 2016 Statistics Provided shelter services to 33 families or 104 individuals, including 60 children Provided aftercare services to 25 families Retained 85% of families in housing Provided 4,345 bed nights Provided 13,035 meals Trained 224 volunteers at 10 volunteer trainings Offered 18 Life Skills Presentations Volunteers provided over 16,000 hours of service Things You Can Do to Make a Difference for Homeless Families Financial Support Donate online or mail your gift, payable to "Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network”. You can also donate through United Way of Greater Rochester - RAIHN's Donor Designation number is #2435. Volunteer Encourage your faith community to become a host, support or friend congregation of RAIHN. Provide meals during a RAIHN rotation.  Drive the RAIHN van. Assist at the Day Center. Help move families into their new homes, or pick up furniture donations.   Sponsor a fundraising event on behalf of RAIHN. RAIHN Wish List Toiletries  Cleaning Supplies Baby/Child Items Adult Items – NEW socks and underwear, NEW pajamas, winter coats, boots/shoes Office Supplies – printer paper, printer ink/toner, tape, pens, stamps Merchant Gift Cards RAIHN provides families with the support they need to secure safe, stable housing. At the congregations: private bedrooms for evening shelter breakfast, lunch and dinner caring and compassionate volunteers recreational family activities Life Skills presentations on topics such as nutrition, parenting, and budgeting At the Day Center: personalized case management transportation assistance access to shower and laundry facilities  access to computer/fax/phone other daily needs such as food, clothing, toiletries, diapers Upon graduation from RAIHN: aftercare services for up to 1 year moving assistance and furniture procurement non-perishable food supplies cleaning supplies school supplies & holiday gift program Over the past 13 years, RAIHN has provided services to 390 families or 1,223 individuals, including 715 children. Local Statistics The City of Rochester has the highest rate of childhood poverty in the nation among comparably sized cities, with 52.5% of children living in poverty. (Rochester Area Community Foundation & ACT Rochester, 2016) In 2015, the Monroe County Department of Human Services (MCDHS) made 7,455 emergency housing placements for individuals and families.
