3 Market Assessments were conducted by different actors in different neighborhoods. Findings show that markets are functional and can accommodate a surge in demand. CCI partners: 433 Vulnerability Assessments in Al Intisar, still ongoing. 128 HHs received their payments this week, distributions will be rolled out on a regular basis. First round of PDMs towards mid-April Launched HH Assessments in al Quds and Al Karama. Modality: Money Transfer Agents (Hawalas) UNHCR and UNICEF: Vulnerability Assessments launched in Al Zahraa’ and Al Khadra Modality: Zain Mobile Money Transfers

Pre-Assessment Area of assessment is selected based on confirmed information from relevant Government Institutions, S-NFI cluster, UN-Agencies and NGOs that this area is relatively safe and IDPs are willing to freely return or IDPs have started returning; In coordination with relevant government authorities at national, governorate and local levels, targeted communities are selected for assessment; Approval and area of assessment is sought from governing authority to proceed. Assessment and Classification
Community selected for assessment is marked in zones and numbering assigned to each house, for example: Zone A, B, C and House No. A1, B32 etc. A comprehensive building condition survey and assessment is conducted by civil engineers, the inspection focuses on two main building features: Exterior building conditions; components of the building envelope (i.e. structure, walls, roof, windows and doors, balconies) Connection to services; building connections to infrastructure networks (i.e. wastewater, domestic water supply, electricity) United Nations Human Settlements Programme - Iraq

Classification of Damages In order to clearly categorise the buildings into various degrees of damage, UN- Habitat Engineers internally designed the below classification procedure: The evaluation procedure for each building feature is conducted and adhered to four rating criteria as follows: Good – No apparent problems visible Fair – Minor/Medium Repair: Minor/Medium repairable problems visible and structurally sound. Poor – Major Repair: Failure apparent including significant damages. Damaged – Replacement: Extensive damage or totally destroyed. The evaluation procedure of services for each building is conducted and adhered to three rating criteria as follows: Good – Connected to services with no or minor issues Poor – Connected to service with major problems No existent – Service not existent United Nations Human Settlements Programme - Iraq

Poor Buildings show severe cracking or damaged structural supporting elements. Key Considerations on Selection of Houses for Rehabilitation
Cost of rehabilitation of houses that falls within the agency’s budget per house are selected. Further selection criteria is used when the total cost for selected houses is above project budget. Execution through Community-based Approach
The community-based approach through the set-up and operation of community-based committees in the targeted communities to facilitate programme implementation. National NGO partner engaged to train community members on construction related technical skills training programme in relevant technical skills to maintain houses and basic community infrastructure executed under the project. Returnees engaged in rehabilitation/installation activities. Implementing contractors employ members of the communities which contributes to improve their livelihoods. Lessons Learned and Good Practices Effective involvement of community members through community- based committees to ensure effective flow of communication between the project and communities. The established community-based committees ensure sustainable representing and coordinating with UN agencies and NGOs operating in the project area, contributing to facilitate returns to and recovery of Ramadi.
