5 PCDC 2017 Status Gold Team Still working on developing scenario, possibilities: Upgrade last year’s scenario On-line Banking SCADA/Train Injects: Looking to balance very challenging reverse engineering/forensics related injects of 2016 with easier risk mitigation related injects of 2015. Looking to upgrade equipment, providing specs, contacted CDWG SPAWAR fully funded for PCDC 2017 government labor Don’t currently predict any major schedule changes from 2016 Will start PCDC 2017 Enterprise meetings every two weeks in January

Vetting Sunday Collegiate Day- Need to gage interest to use SE Regional CCDC Remote Qualifier to open qualifying to entire state. Currently only one additional school has confirmed interest –Lander University in Greenwood Two plasma displays inside front doors of auditorium PCDC Scrolling Photo Album Scrolling display

7 PCDC 2016 Status Don’t currently predict any major schedule changes for 2017 May not do National Guard classes this year? National Anthem each day – POC: Ken Dilks Honor Guard on Monday – POC: Ken Dilks Will again imbed 1 student from each College for Pro Day and one from TTC for each Pro Team Will again collect school song choices from each school Current Industry Pro Day Team verbal commitments SRC, CSRA, IMS, SAIC SCANA Energy pending

Offered 10 test vouchers for Microsoft Tech Associate Set up raffle for these, 2 Security + vouchers went to MVPs Will contact to see if they interested in repeating Cyber Forensics Challenge: Sponsorship open Pro Day Q&A sessions will again be held. Dates TBD Invitation to speak on Sunday is being extended to several people including Walter O'Brien, claimed to have hacked NSA at 13 Also looking at leaders from Dell, Google

1st place: $500 each, National Guard Backpack? and Challenge Cup for one year. Top 3 places: Medals, team trophy. Others (i.e. earbuds) 7 plaques (increase over 5 from 2016), medals and lanyards MVP $1,000 on Saturday and Sunday Additional cost for trophies since Pro-2-Serve sponsorship has ended AFCEA Updates – Ken Dilks: sponsors Will continue to emphasize recruitment, SSC Atlantic is looking for engineers and computer scientists

11 Recruitment Students may send soft copy of resume to Ken Dilks at for distribution to sponsors Students can also send their resumes and transcripts to for potential SPAWAR employment. Focusing mostly on Collegiate Juniors for next year graduation. SPAWAR is looking to offer tentative on-the-spot (within 2 days) job offers for select students at the competition. Students need to bring hard copy of resume and transcripts. Sign up and can you be notified of openings on USAJOBS: Will have SPAWAR recruitment brochures at event Colleges are permitted to be there on Saturday for recruiting high school students- afternoon is best time.

13 2017 Cyber Forensic Challenge
Objective: Solve as many forensic scenarios as possible within the allotted time and accumulate the most points possible – Participants will be provided access to a forensic scenario exercises ranging in difficulty. Each exercise will require the participant to utilize different forensic techniques to uncover a designated “flag”. Flags will be unique to each scenario which can range from date/time stamps, hashes, passwords, etc. Challenge examples: Hidden data: Find a specific “Key” word Hashing: Identify the correct hash of a file Metadata: Identify a particular embedded metadata element Data Recovery:Recover a specific filename Password Cracking: Malware, PCAP, Memory Analysis Any attendee at the PCDC event may compete Automated scoring issues to be resolved Will get word out to high schools 2017 will have two separate divisions: high school and collegiate/professional Planning on doubling the capacity of allowable participants for 2017 (50-60?) Excludes PCDC Staff, SPAWAR Employees and High School PCDC team members Individual participation only: Cannot receive help from others
