Comparative Religions
Comparative Religions at BHS is a one semester, ½ credit, elective course. It introduces students to the major world religions, which include, but is not limited to Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Students study the origins, beliefs, practices, social organizations, and founders. Students also examine the impact of contemporary issues on world religions and vice versa. Last but not least, students explore Rochester’s religious landscape, visiting religious sites, participating in services, and interacting with adherents from different faith traditions.

What are the fundamental questions religions ask? How is each religion unique?

Guest Speakers One guest speaker for each of the five major world religions covered per semester Speakers include adherents from many other faith traditions too Many guest speakers are BHS faculty or alumni Students frequently invite and arrange for guest speakers Allow students an opportunity to directly engage in dialogue with practicing adherents
