2 what makes poetry? These are the ten points of poetry: Title Rhyme

3 Styles of poetry This style of poetry is called a haiku.
A haiku is a poem that has 5 syllables in the first line,7 syllables in the second line and 5 syllables in the last line although the haiku has a limited variety of words you can always try and add some rhyming or some rhythm.

4 Fear Tell me no one’s there Help me run away from it Do not look around

5 Nonsense poems Pigs are pink The sky is blue Cows go moo And so do you
Living in a world of fantasy Just you and me Where pigs are blue The sky is pink Cows go coo A nonsense poem is just a poem that dosen’t make sense! This poem has a very bouncy rhythm and creates quite an mind-dazzling scene of imagery.

6 Rhyming poems A rhyming poem is a poem in which the end of the lines the words rhyme. Rhyming poems can be heart breaking yet cheerful. This combination sounds odd but it really does make the reader want to read that poem for ever.

7 Narrative poem A narrative poem is where you tell a story through a poem; it can be hard but people have managed it.

8 Alphabet poem Alphabet poems are exactly what they sound like, alphabet poems. All you need to do is to choose a name and a attitude then repeat but make sure the end word rhymes!

9 An Alphabet Poem A is for Ava, who picks her nose O is for Ocean, who likes to swim B is for Bertie, who plays with a hose P is for Penny, who loves to win C is for Cassie, who’s stroppy and rude Q is for Queenie, who hates to cook D is for Dylan, who’s a bit of a dude R is for Rachel, who has her own book. E is for Emma, who loves to draw S is for Sarah, who steals sweets F is for Freddy, who is extremely poor T is for Thomas, who loves to tweet G is for Grace, who likes to rhyme U is for Una, who plays chess H is for Harry, who commits crime V is for Violet, who has a dress. I is for Isaac, who floats in the air W is for William, who is a clown J is for Jenny, who has a pet bear X is for Xara, who try’s to drown K is for Keira, who always wears glasses Y is for Yasmin, who wanders alone L is for Laura, who joins lots of classes Z is for Zoe who has her own phone. 11 AROSTIC POEMS A acrostic poem is where you have a word down the side of the page and then you make sentences using the start letter.
