James 4:1-10

2. What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you?

3. Symptoms: Quarrels & Division

4. Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
- James 4:1b

5. You lust and do not have; so you commit murder.
- James 4:2a

6. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel
You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures
- James 4:2b-3

7. Diagnosis: You are seeking worldly things using worldly methods

8. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God?
- James 4:4a

9. Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

10. Prognosis: Friendship with the world is enmity with God

11. Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us”?
- James 4:5

12. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
- Eph. 4:30-31

13. But He gives a greater grace
But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Make your choice
Submit therefore to God.

15. Make a stand The Cure Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

16. People fall because:
Play with sin
Take their time with sin
Think God doesn’t care

17. The Cure Draw near to God
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
