Basins- an area of land where water from rain drains downhill to a body of water, such as a river or stream. San Jacinto River, Rio Grande, etc. Plateau- An area of highland usually consisting of a flat terrain. Found mainly in Central and West Texas. Different Areas

Texas Regions Texas is divided up into four Regions:
Coastal Plains Region- grassland area with marshes. (Houston, Dickinson) North Central Plains- Area with some hills and forests. (Fort Worth, Waco) Great Plains- Hill Country, with many canyons. (Austin, Lubbock) Mountains and Basins- Many Mountains and a high elevation. (El Paso) Texas Regions
