4 Coaching steps 1 and 2 Diagnose and plan: Identify areas where coaching is needed and your approach Active Listening Diagnose the challenge(s) the team is facing Determine approach(es) to help team move forward Initiate coaching Initial feedback Share observations Celebrate success Empathize where having difficulties Listen, observe, question Implement other coaching intervention(s) In the the last session we introduced and practiced some general coaching skills to help you work with a team. In this talk and throughout the rest of the session we will focus on diagnosing the specific challenges a team may be facing in order to implement a coaching intervention

Resistance (individual or team): Background, Experience, Knowledge No Leadership buy in Systems too weak Not enough resources No training

7 Your job as a coach is to:
determine the reasons that change is not happening and develop a coaching intervention to help a team move forward

8 Common challenges we will review
Site is not using the data QI knowledge is low Team is unable to prioritize a QI project Team does not know how to choose a solution QI work/project is stalled Lack of leadership buy-in Note, that these are some of the common challenges. They may encounter others. The skills learned in this workshop and practicing those skills will help them to formulate an approach to other challenges.
