3. Our Goal
Get Elementary students interested in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

4. How do we get students interested within the STEM field?

5. By Doing Experiments
Experiments that are going to be preformed this semester:
Ice Cream in a bag [Chemistry]
Exploring Circuits [Engineering]
Egg Drop [Physics]
Building with Candy [Engineering]
Predator vs. Prey [Biology]
Stress Ball [Chemistry]
Please review experiments before attending outreach.

6. More Details About the Program
The school is enrolling 60 students into the Science Alliance Program.
Around 15 volunteers are wanted each outreach.
Joe Stefani Outreach will start promptly at 3pm – 4pm
Carpool will be provided for students that does not have a ride.
Carpool will pick-up and drop-off at the library parking lot.

7. Volunteers Must …
Check in and out at the main office upon arrival and departure.
Wear their University of Merced Cat-Cards while on the campus.

Log in Outreach Hours
Mandatory Federal Training [Later on]
This MUST be completed before entering the school.

8. Attendance and Carpool
If you are unable to attend outreach for a certain week, please let Mira Patel know at least a week in advance.
Carpool:
If you are going to be late for carpool, please give at least 15 minutes advance notice to your driver.

9. Scenarios
To refocus the students’ attention use the phase “1,2 eyes on you”
When students are done early:
Engage them with something productive
Homework
Clean-up
Start a conversation
When students need to use the bathroom:
Make sure they have a bathroom buddy.
If you have any problems that you cannot resolve please feel free to come up to an officer for assistance.
