Topic, Issue, and how it relates
My topic is global warming The issue is that global warming is happening to fast, and we should focus a lot more on the damage it could cause. The governing entity is Utah government or congress. Global Warming can be related to Earth Science because it is affecting the whole world. Since the Industrial Revolution, the average global temperature has increased, which can cause many natural disasters and many problems concerning the world. Human activities also have a large role in global warming.
3
Facts Since the 1880's, the average global temperature increased by 1.1*C (2.0*F), and is predicted that the surface temperature would increase by 0.3 to 4.8*C ( *F) If there was an increase of 2*C in a short period of time, damage could include the extinction of some animals and plants, change or shifts in the agriculture patterns, and rising of the sea level IPCC reported that sea levels cm

Facts Human activity is increasing the amount of CO2 and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. CO2 and the other greenhouse gases collect in the atmosphere and absorb sunlight and solar radiation that has bounced of the earth's surface, normally it would escape to space, but the pollutants keep it trapped within the earth, and they can last for years. Burning fossil fuels produces about 2 billion tons of CO2 every year, and the transportation sector generates about 1.2 billion tons every year.
5
Facts The rising temperatures are causing longer and hotter heatwaves.
Earths Ocean Temperatures are also getting warmer which means that tropical storms could have more energy. Rising sea levels will lead to coastal flooding on the Eastern seaboard, which is caused by the melting of the ice bergs. Allergies, infectious disease outbreaks, and Asthma will become more common because of the higher levels of air pollution and the spread of conditions favorable for pathogens and mosquitos. China is number one with producing CO2 with 28% and the U.S. comes in second with 16% although we only make up 4% of the world's population
6
Call to Action We need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and use more clean energy. I suggest that we reduce the amount of CO2 in the air, that governments should place limits on the amount of carbon we are allowed to use. They should invest their money into building a clean energy economy by making different approaches in technology and in the industries.
