Holiday Task: Write an essay to answer the question: What problems did Henry VII face after the Wars of the Roses? Word Count- 600 words max (11-12 point font so it all fits on one page) To do this you will need to 1) Get a basic idea of what The Wars of the Roses was through internet research 2) Read the attached photocopy from ‘The Tudors’ by Richard Rex (p. 9-13) 3) Internet and book research into Henry’s problems after the wars Essay Format Intro- which demonstrates knowledge of what the Wars of the Roses was Paragraph 1- first problem- The Legitimacy of Henry’s Claim to the Throne (much of this is in the extract) Paragraph 2- second problem- identify and research yourself Paragraph 3- third problem- identify and research yourself Conclusion- overall view of biggest problem Within each paragraph remember PEELJ Point- outline the problem in first sentence Evidence- dated examples, statistics, key people etc. Explain- ‘This was a problem for Henry because…’ Linking- How do the paragraph factors relate to each other- ‘This links to…’ This led to…’ ‘This meant that…’ Judgement- How important a problem was it?
