2 Index 1. What is the meanings of Euthanasia? 2. Our groups’ thoughts.
- Reason - Example nation – Netherland 3. Conclusion.

3 Euthanasia?? In current usage, euthanasia has been defined as the "painless inducement of a quick death". Another approach incorporates the notion of suffering into the definition. However, it is argued that this approach fails to properly define euthanasia, as it leaves open a number of possible actions which would meet the requirements of the definition, but would not be seen as euthanasia. In particular, these include situations where a person kills another, painlessly, but for no reason beyond that of personal gain; or accidental deaths that are quick and painless, but not intentional.

4 Passive and Active euthanasia.
Euthanasia is classified two parts , Active euthanasia and Passive euthanasia. Passive euthanasia : Passive euthanasia is when a patient is on a life-support system and is not expected to live. The patient's family may decide to turn off the machine and allow the patient to die. And it entails the withholding of common treatments, such as antibiotics, necessary for the continuance of life. Active euthanasia : Active euthanasia involves causing the death of a person through a direct action, in response to a request from that person. It entails the use of lethal substances or forces, such as administering a lethal injection, to kill and is the most controversial means.

5 Our Thoughts.. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8opU0YbKAZc)
We agree with the Euthanasia.

6 The first Reason – the individual Right to freedom of choice
- the human life is honorable, but we should be respectful of the choices about the life. Absolutely the suicide is not regarded as a crime in South Korea Constitution, because it cannot execute a sentence and there is not the list as an attempted suicide or suicide crime in the Constitution.

7 The second reason – the financial problem
- If the patients keep their physical condition incurable, they would be in danger of financial problem, also their guardians. As well as financial problem, they also put time into their patients, so there would be some problems to continue the futureless lives in an aspect of guardians. But if their guardians of patients agree with the euthanasia and it is conducted, we can expect the positive effect to their family at least.

8 The third reason - Expropriation and procedure
- For example, the opposite members insist that we cannot set back the condition if we conduct the death penalty or euthanasia. In other words, If the doctor or the family unilaterally decide to conduct euthanasia although the patients want to know the decisions but heard no answers, the big problem will be happened. In this case, the social consultation on this issue is realized by public hearings or a survey of public add to the professionalism, so we can respect the patients’ opinions and also prepare procedures to conduct euthanasia.

9 Example of Nation. Netherland
Netherland has been regarding the tolerant nation about death with dignity and euthanasia under the strict conditions. The low court had passed the admission for the incurable patients to choose the mercy killing in November, 2000.

10 But, there has been about 2500 mercy killings since 1996, although the bill of mercy killing was passed in 2000. The 90% subjects of mercy killing were the patients who are incurable by endstage cancer.. The law of Euthanasia has been legalization provisionally. But, Netherland observe the rules of conducting euthanasia.

11 The rules of conducting Euthanasia(Netherland)
1. The patients’ requests about mercy killing are considered by their free wills and they(=requests) have to be continuous. 2. The doctors have to confirm exactly that the patients are suffering the continuous and unbearable pain. 3. The doctors who are planning to conduct the mercy killing to patients have to consult with one of the doctors at least and other doctors who are consulted have to diagnose the conditions of patients, before conducting the mercy killings. 4. The doctors have to explain the condition of patients and future prospects thoroughly. And then, the doctors and the patients certainly have to notice together that there are not any alternatives from mercy killings. 5. The only doctors who care about their patients who choose the mercy killing have to conduct the Euthanasia.

12 Switzerland Switzerland has been conducing the mercy killing since the court had passed the bill of mercy killing and the assisted suicide by 1942.

13 Switzerland has many organizations for conducting the mercy killing.
The example of the organizations is ‘Dignitas’. Dignitas is originated from the word, ‘Dignity’. The ‘Dignatis’ was opened on May 7th, 1988. Its motto is ‘to live with dignity and to die with dignity.

14 But there are many controversial issues all over the world.
Many foreigners can choose the euthanasia in Dignitas hospital, Switzerland. For 17 years, It has reached 1700 people who are died by the euthanasia.(The dead are foreigner who comes from Europe nations and America.) But there are many controversial issues all over the world. Generally people say that Dignitas encourage many people to choose the euthanasia, despite of the life dignity and the abuse of suicide. (

15 Conclusion!! Steven Hoking : “The euthanasia is not forced to conduct without the patients’ opinions or decisions. Euthanasia is conducted by the patients’ careful judgment.” Dr. Donald Ro : “We make our own decisions when and how we die and we also want to be died peacefully by our doctors. The opposite members who do not agree with euthanasia will change their thought if they live in my body for 24 hours.” Euthanasia is the most honorable and solemn decision of the life head on to end the pain And It is also conducted by our own decisions that are made by us who have the strongest affections of our lives.

16 Thank you for listening carefully.
