3 Encountering Jesus Part 1 – John’s Story
Jeremy LeVan 7 – 3 – 16

4 Revelation 1:9-18 I, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,

5 Revelation 1:9-18 continued
11 saying, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last,” and “What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia: to Ephesus, to Smyrna, to Pergamos, to Thyatira, to Sardis, to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.” 12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.

6 Revelation 1:9-18 continued
12 …And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;

7 Revelation 1:9-18 continued
15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; 16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me,

8 Revelation 1:9-18 continued
17 …“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

9 John had a revelation of Jesus.

10 Acts 12:1-2 Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. 2 Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

11 John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

12 1 John 4:3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God.

13 1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—

14 John had a growing revelation of Jesus.

15 John 6:35 I am the bread of life

16 John 8:12 I am the light

17 John 10:7 I am the door

18 John 10:11 I am the good shepherd.

19 John 11:25 I am the resurrection

20 John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life.

21 John 15:1 I am the vine

22 John 10:36 I am the Son of God

23 Luke 9:54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”

24 John 9:38 Now John answered Him, saying, “Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us.”

25 Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—

26 John had a revelation of himself in Jesus.

27 John 13:23 Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.

28 John 20: Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him.”

29 John 21: Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea.

30 John 21: Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper…

31 John 19: When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
