The program is facilitated by a cultural resource coordinator. The program is intended to help urban children, youth and families to connect with their culture. 2 Our Language Teacher Program Goal
To provide increased access to culture and culture based programs and service delivery to urban Indigenous children, youth and families that fosters a strong sense of well-being and positive Indigenous identity. Services Provided: *General Cultural Support *Indigenous traditional knowledge access *Language supports, culture based healing, awareness, safety and competency Families are encouraged to come in and discuss their cultural needs, interests, questions and goals. Make an appointment to discuss how the Cultural Resource Coordinator can assist you and your family in gaining the knowledge you seek. Our Language Teacher Wenesh ow maaba? Who is she? Mko Giizoons Anishnaabe ezhi-nikaaza. Little Bear Moon is her Ojibwe name.Tiffany Myers zhinkaaza, Bkejwanong binjibaa. She is called Tiffany Myers, and she comes from Where the Waters Divide (Walpole Island). Tiffany attended a 4 year program called Maatookiidaa Anishinaabewin Immersion Teacher Certification course which is affiliated with the University of Ottawa. She teaches the language through games, hands-on activities, songs, teaching aids, and many translations to work in reaching all age groups. Starting in October 2016 Regularly Scheduled Programs include: Beginner Language Classes on Wednesday nights from 6-8pm Beginner Drumming classes on Wednesdays from 5:30-6pm Beginner Beading on Tuesdays from 11am-2pm *Please note that there may be changes to the schedule from time to time. Please stop by the centre to pick up a calendar or check our website for possible changes that may occur to the schedule and for future programs and events. Miigwech!
