Church Council Agenda YOUTH MINISTRY REPORT: Dondra Davis
Our youth group is doing great and we’re growing! The students are committed to being a part of the group and inviting friends. Attendance is up across the board and that’s good news but with this increase in attendance comes a need for more adult assistance. We’re in desperate need of adults to help in the following areas: Sunday School – seconds in the classrooms (not to teach but to be present) Youth Fellowship Leaders – we need at least one more person to join us on Sunday evenings from 5-7pm for Youth Fellowship. You will help chaperone and engage in the lives of our youth.

30 Hour Famine – we need adults to be with us during the famine to help chaperone the event. We have some coverage but not enough. There are a lot of other youth ministry needs but these are the most critical at this moment. Youth planning for the summer is almost complete (we just need to nail down dates on a couple of activities) and a meeting is being held on March 11 with the youth leaders to plan for the school year.

Sunday School: We have 4 new High School Sunday school teachers who will rotate teaching the class. These adults are Jim Lundy, Meredith Bradham, Jen Mayer and Mark Grant. We need adults who will serve as “seconds” for the high school class to keep us in compliance with Safe Sanctuaries. Mike Holladay and George Davis will continue as the Middle School Sunday School teachers. We appreciate all of these adults pouring into our youth.

Wednesday Night Offerings: Student interest in Where is God? continues to be very positive and we will continue this class on Wednesday evenings. This class watches movies and looks for biblical messages in the plots. They’re now suggesting movies that we can watch and are able to support the biblical messages within them. We’re currently viewing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Fundraiser: Our annual pancake supper fundraiser on February 8 was a huge success. We raised $1,200 for Stop Hunger Now. The Boy Scouts are donating an additional $1,000 for this event and will join us for the packaging. We are currently asking the congregation to put aside a dollar a day during Lent for this cause. We hope to raise $6,000 total. The meal packaging event is scheduled for April 25.

Church Council Agenda YOUTH MINISTRY REPORT: Dondra Davis
Youth Fellowship: We’re spending the season of Lent experiencing poverty and raising money for Stop Hunger Now and World Vision. Each week we’re experiencing a different aspect of poverty and discussing it. We’re also looking at our lives and reflecting on various areas of it, like the choices we make, how we spend our time, what kind of stuff we surround ourselves with, etc… Retreats: We have our Spiritual Life Retreat this weekend. We have 11 students participating in the retreat at Camp Glisson.

We begin our fast at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 24. We meet at the church at 6:00 pm, stay together throughout our fast, and will end it on Saturday, April 25 at 6:00 pm with Holy Communion and a feast. The weekend will be full of exciting and fun activities and opportunities to serve others. As part of our weekend, we’ll partner with Stop Hunger Now to package 20,000 meals that will be sent to areas in the world with the most need. Please RSVP to Dondra by April 21.

• Cell Tower: Sub-Committee concluded its research and forwarded their report to the Trustee’s, however we were notified by Municipal Communications that the primary carrier, Verizon had reconfigured their overlay coverage with existing towers. As a result our property is no longer a fit for their needs. We will save the report for historical reference in case this opportunity should present itself again.
