Sustainable building MATERIALS Made by: Sonia Campaner Andrea Genovese
Hindrik Engelage Menno Heijs
2
index The rules of sustainable building Materials from the Netherlands
Van Hall Institute (leeuwarden) Daad Architects (Beilen) De Wenning (Orvelte) Ip DuBo (Groningen) Materials from Italy Yard (Zevio) Substanible house (Zevio) SHE project (Preganziol) Conclusions
3
Some principals of sustainable building
Use as minus possible materials reduce the transport way (like using larix wood) use of recycled materials use of natural materials use of healthy materials
4
GRONINGEN (NL) First Phase
5
The van Hall Institute
6
The Materials The concrete The Dutch wood (larix) The coconutfloor
The glass
7
concrete In the Van Hall institute all the walls are made of rough concrete, that’s good for the environnement because you don’t have to use paint
8
The Dutch wood (larix) In this building they have used only Dutch wood because you don’t have to transport the wood around the world so you save money and lower the Co2 emission
9
The Coconutfloor In the building they also used a coconutfloor that’s because it’s healthy for the environnement (no chemical materials used in the floor)
10
Glass They didn’t use normal ankle glass, they did use double glass. And they used glass windows.
11
Daad Architectenbureau
12
Daad Architectbureau In the Daad architectenbureau they are designing some sustainable buildings like the Wenning
13
De Wenning
14
The materials Lime larixswood hempfiber
15
Lime (leem) Lime is a natural product made of clay, straw and water. When you have lime on the walls your walls are breathing better than a normal plaster.
16
larixwood In the Wenning they only used larixwood from the forest next door. And no chemical products for preparing the wood only the naturalbinders
17
hempfiber Hempfiber isolation is made of hemp. It’s a natural product. And the properties are good, like good sound absorption and it has a high isolation value
18
Dubo
19
Woodfiber isolationboards
Woodfiber isolationboards (Pavatex) is made of waste from the woodindustry. The wood has been bound by the natural binders like resin that are in wood. And the wood is water-resistant if you mix it with some latex.
20
TREVISO (IT) Second Phase
21
Yard of a sustainable centre
22
The materials Fonobeton Wood Poroton briks Reuse the old materials
23
Fonobeton Fonobeton is made of recycled paper and cartboard. And they mix it with the concrete for the second floor, its a good isolation for sound and heat.
24
Wood The floors and the roof are built with wooden structures or innovative system. Most of the indoor structures and the roof are made of wood, mostly dry assembled. The roof is ventilated and insulated with hemp panels.
25
Poroton Fired-clay bricks used for the walls (45 cm thick) are produced with a honeycomb structure of vertical perforations, that reduces its weight while maintaining adequate strength and a good thermal resistance. Additional thermal resistance is given by mixing sawdust before firing, resulting in “micro-pores” so to supply a 'thermal block'. Here the insulation is improved with cork panels.
26
Materials reused They used the old bricks for made the porch pilars
They have reused the roof tiles The old iron cast pillars are the same of the old bilding
27
The substainable house
28
The materials The perimetral walls Wood Lime
29
The walls The walls are the old one, they are made by stone, normal brick and brick in raw earth. To fill up the holes they put in it calcium whith a easy metod: the bottles
30
Wood They reused some of the old beams for the roof
The ground and a big part of ceiling are made of larixs wood (abete)
31
Lime The also use lime in Italy. They make it from clay, straw and water. They use it for the isolation of the walls.
32
SHE project
33
The materials The earth street The brick
34
The earth street For the street around the building they don’t use asphalt but they use the local earth with a little part of concrete and old materials thet came from other yard. To make a solid street they pressed all with a crush stone
35
Brick The brick that they use are made in concrete and wood. The wood is red pine tree. They have two hole in vertical direction were put the iron armor and concrete. In it there is air, so they have a good termic and acoustic isolation. They use this brick for wall and also for the ground
36
The conclusion After seeing sustainable building in Holland and Italy we have seen some differents between Holland and Italy. But the biggest difference is that in Holland they are working longer with sustainable materials, so there are more products availeble to use. In Italy they just started with sustainable building wich is a good thing!
