SIAP Mission SDG Evidence-based DECISION making Timely and quality OFFICIAL statistics ENHANCED CAPABILITY OF NATIONAL STATISTICAL SYSTEM Then and now: different wording but essentially meaning this Yes– the challenges remain e.g., Alick– Pacific Islands and Malawi; Arman– Is Republic of Iran; Marge-- Philippines e.g., Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics (quality, timeliness, availability)– only this year endorsed by the General Assembly e.g., NSDS e.g., Busan Action Plan for Statistics– 2011 e.g., HLP 2013– data revolution
