7 FieldBook App – exporting data
Export to CSV files Two formats: database, table Choose what gets exported All field columns vs. Unique ID All traits vs. Active traits Overwrite previous export Option to share to other services after export

9 Using the FieldBook App in peach breeding
FieldBook app downloaded on two tablets and one phone All material relevant for the peach breeding program and planted at the research farm, prepared as “import files”, uploaded into the app Traits prepared and uploaded to all devices Collected data stays within the app No syncing between devices available – will be part of BIMS Weekly export of collected data and update of the import files with column “evaluated” (yes/no) allows the tracking of what has been evaluated

10 Using the FieldBook App in peach breeding
Data are connected with the Unique_ID not the import file name Data can be changed in the app and lost if not downloaded frequently Data stay in the app until the database has been reset Reset removes the data from the app and disconnects the collected audio and photo data from unique_ID Prior to resetting download the database FieldBook is used for collection of data in field and in lab

11 Vision of BIMS To aid new cultivar development by providing individual breeders with a secure and comprehensive online breeding information management system which will allow them to: Store, manage, archive and analyze their private breeding program data Fully integrate their data with publicly available genomic, genetic and breeding data Manage data from the Field Book App, an android app for efficient collection of phenotype data in the field and laboratory

12 Components of BIMS in GDR
Archive Manage Breeding Data Import, Edit and Download Search and Compare Field Book App Management Data Analysis Tools Breeding Decision Tools

13 BIMS Home Login from GDR home page accesses the breeders private BIMS

14 Archive Archive complete breeding program data to PC and view history of archiving The Archive function in BIMS allows you at any time to save your data to your local device (computer, tablet, phone etc.) You will be able to select all the data, some of the data, between dates and in requested format.

15 Manage Breeding – Manage Program
In the manage program section, you can edit information on your program and also add members and give them privileges to read or read and write. Add members and give them privileges to read or read/write

16 Manage Breeding – Manage Lists
Create lists of germplasm and traits to make phenotypic data collection sheets, download phenotypic or genotypic data in ‘Download’ or any other future BIMS tools. You can create lists of germplasm and traits to make phenotypic data collection sheets, download phenotypic or genotypic data in ‘Download’ or any other future BIMS tools.

17 Manage Breeding – Manage Traits
View existing traits and trait details Add/edit/delete traits in admin menu In the manage trait section, you can view existing traits and trait details. In the Admin menu, you can add, edit or delete traits. You can do the same thing in sections such as location, cross and germplasm.

18 Manage Breeding – Manage Trials
View all trials. Clicking on a trial name, populates the trial description

19 Manage Breeding – Manage Trials
Add new trials, edit or remove trials from the program.

20 Manage Breeding – Manage Trials
View all trials. Right click and create new folders and move trials into the new folder.

21 Manage Breeding – Manage Trials
Clicking on trial provides data selectable by trait, stats about the trait and access to view/ download all the data for the trial.

22 Manage Breeding – Manage Trials
The phenotypic data can be sorted by column heading. We will add ability to select what data is displayed in the table

23 Manage Breeding – Manage Trials
The Breeding Line Tree shows all the progeny and breeding lines that have been tested. Clicking on a breeding line shows all the trials where the breeding line was phenotyped, Clicking any trial name will access the same phenotype page with the statistical information and the entire phenotype data.

24 Data Import - Templates
In data import, templates for each type of data are available for download in template list page. Data import for Field Book App output will be shortly available.

25 Data Import - Templates
In data import, templates for each type of data are available for download in template list page. Data import for Field Book App output will be shortly available.

26 Data Import – Upload data from Templates
In data upload, files can be uploaded. The status of the upload is shown. The history of files uploaded is being added with submission details.

27 Search – By Germplasm Name
Search by name, search germplasm records by name or upload a file of germplasm to return summary details, then drill down to crosses, trials and phenotype data for that germplasm.

28 Download – By Trial Download all the phenotype data by trial. Download by list available later.

29 FieldBook App Management
Upload trait evaluation data collected with the Field Book App to BIMS Download trait data collection files in Field Book Format

30 Timeline for Development
V1.0 by January 2017 Load complete breeding program data and tested by breeder Feedback from breeders on proposed BIMS V1.0 by June 2017 Excel template and FieldBook App data loading available Search germplasm by name, parentage, trait, and genotype available Archiving available V2.0 by September 2017 Compare by germplasm and dataset available
