Addressing the gap 53,400 people of working age are economically inactive (June 2015) 18,300 would like to have a job 4,818 are JSA claimants (JCP clients) 13,400 are ESA claimants (May 2015) 22,540 are claiming out of work benefits (17,000 have no qualifications) Croydon is home to an above average number of low-paid jobs, with nearly a quarter (24%) being paid below the London living wage. The JBS will address the gap in provision for people who are employment ready, but cannot access the vacancies available The JBS will not duplicate provision The JBS will work with partners to provide additional routes to employment for Croydon residents and job-ready candidates to employers for cansideration.

Engage employers – secure vacancies Develop preferential routes to work for residents e.g. guaranteed interviews, work placement, training to employment etc. Provide feedback for each candidate Provide job start evidence Follow-up and sustainability information
