1 e-Referral Service Help function

2 Introduction Within the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) users can access help and guidance The ‘Help’ hyperlink can be found at the top left hand corner of all e-RS screens. Help files are provided in place of system user manuals The Help file content is updated as new information becomes available Users can also access this information when they are not logged into the e-Referral Service by using the following link (N3 connection is required) The following slides show how the Help content is presented and how to search for information

3 Searching Help Content
You can search for information via the ‘Contents’ option.

4 Searching Help Content
The left-hand panel displays the high level information sections. You can click on a section to expand it and display more information. Icons and hyperlinks have been added to enable users to display additional information. For example, selecting the link indicated here displays the following process flow chart.

5 Navigating Help Content
In the helpfiles you can drill down again by clicking on a flow box in the diagram. This would display more information on that part of the process. To remove a pop-up from the screen, click outside of the pop up box. Use the back arrow To return to the previous screen.

6 Searching Help Content
In this example the hyperlink provides an explanation of the term ‘Specialty’. Hyperlinks can also direct users to webpages for further information. For example, NHS e-Referral Service training webpages or NHS Choices site.

7 Searching Help Content
Another way to search for help information is through the ‘Index’ option. Here you can type keywords to find pertinent sections.

8 Searching Help Content
Use the ‘Search’ option to list all areas of help where the searched text is embedded.

9 Searching Help Content
The ‘Glossary’ option provides a list of terms used within the Help content. Clicking on a term will display a definition of that term.
