MyPlate MyPlate breaks down the necessary proportions of each food group that should be consumed on a daily basis. It is a helpful guide to help shape a healthy diet

Breakdown of MyPlate Fruits Vegetables Protein Grains Dairy

Fruits Usually grown from trees and the earth, foods such as bananas, apples and pears. Usually made of natural sugars

Vegetables Any plant whose fruit, seeds, roots, tubers, bulbs, stems, leaves, or flower parts are used as food Leafy greens such as broccoli and lettuce are popular vegetables

Grains Mostly made up of wheat crops and a variety of different seeds.
Many foods like bread and cereal are source of grains

Proteins All foods made from meat, poultry, seafood, beans and peas, eggs, processed soy products, nuts, and seeds are considered part of the Protein Foods Group

A user friendly chart allows you to figure out your recommended guidelines with your age, height and weight. The chart on the next slide is the guidelines for daily intake of vegetables

Home Choose Myplate’s website has tons of information on nutrition as well as a cool program to track your meals at home The Supertracker is a way to input food you eat to see if you are meeting your daily recommended serving of Proteins, Dairy, Grains, Fruits, and Vegetables

Home In addition to your diet, the website can also help you track your daily exercise and how it effects your diet. This is a great tool to help maintain a consistent and healthy diet

Food For Thought It is important to remember that “diet” does not mean you have to eat less but is more in place to establish and maintain healthy eating habits that will have long term positive effects on your life.
