1 Overview of WGs, IGs and BoFs
Francoise Genova, TAB, CNRS/CDS

2 RDA Groups RDA is a bottom-up organisation
Topics are proposed by the community Work organised into Groups with a Charter and international membership Interest Groups (IG) Working Groups (WG) Specific to Plenaries, to initiate discussion which can lead to propose a Group Bird of the Feather (BoF)

3 Working Groups 18 months to produce outcomes = deliverables which should « facilitate tangible progress for a significant cohort within the international data community » Among possible topics: New data standards or harmonisation of existing standards Greater data sharing, exchange, interoperability, usability and re-usability Greater discoverability of research data sets Better management, stewardship, and preservation of research data etc.

4 A huge diversity RDA builds Technological and sociological bridges

7 Diversity is not chaos Landscape evolution followed by the Technical Advisory Board Bottom-up clustering of groups, e.g. Data Fabric IG Publishing Cluster Regular Chair and TAB/Chair meetings Many Joint Sessions on topics of common interest

8 Data Creation and Re-Use Cycle in the Labs
management, preserving, analyzing, annotating, etc. new data from old complex, nonlinear process widely distributed landscape

9 Data Fabric Interest Group
Data Fabric IG looks for common components and services to make this work as efficient and reproducible as possible Other WG/IGs looking at data publication workflows and citation

From the web site Each session comes with a detailed description Context, links, objectives, agenda Information on the Groups e.g. from the full list

15 P7 BoFs (i.e. new topics) Initial breakout for the Data Typing WG
Health Data: Health Data challenges Data Search Management and curation of physical samples Research Data Repository Interoperability Metadata Standards for attribution of physical and digital collections stewardship Text and Data Mining E-Infrastructure for Global Change Research IG Virtual Research Environment Weather, Climate and Air Quality

16 Personal message Talk and listen to people Many things to gather from the Group meetings and from informal discussion Find your own path – In some cases attendents start with a plan and find that other things are finally more relevant to their needs
