10 You need to learn special skills before you agree to help care for an INFANT (birth to 1 year):
Holding, Feeding, Diapering, Dressing, and Safety tips are just a few.

11 Infants will triple their birth weight in the first year. They begin teething. Toys: crib mobiles, teething rings, blocks, music, washable books, squeak toys and stuffed animals. Always wash your hands before play and after diaper changing. Never prop a bottle in the baby’s crib. NEVER leave them alone in a high chair or on a changing table

12 Boundless energy can be a challenge for sitters!
Toddlers (age 1-3 yrs.) walk, run, climb, jump, kick & throw. They may have troubling sharing & need rules.

13 Pre-schoolers (age 3-5) can use a tricycle, cut with scissors and use a fork & spoon. They begin to know letters and learn to dress themselves. Toys: Finger paints, puzzles, tricycles & dress up Safety rules need to be clear! Routine will help.

What are the best & worst foods to feed the child? Does the child have any allergies? How do I warm up the bottle? What toys would be appropriate for this age group? How do I deal with a bloody nose? What if the child cries and wants the parent? If the phone rings while I am sitting, should I answer it? Who should I call in an emergency? Is it ok to watch tv? Where are the first aid supplies?
