2 How Do You Utilize Your Time?
It really doesn’t matter if you make a list and then come home and Surf the web Watch TV Shoot hoops Sleep The point of making the list is to ONLY do those things on the list!!

3 But. . . I hate coming home and going straight to work
I’m hungry when I get home I’m tired when I get home I deserve a break Can’t I have any fun? Etc.

4 Break Larger Assignments Down
Read chapter 1 of Scarlet Letter Read chapter 2 of Scarlet Letter Read chapter 3 Read chapter 4 Read chapter 5

5 Now place the required assignment into a time sequence
2:30—nap 3:00—Read SL 1-2 3:30—Play computer game 3:45—Read SL 3 4:00—Practice piano 5:00—help with dinner 6:00—Finish reading SL assignment 7:00—Watch TV 8:00—Call friends

6 Sometimes, smaller rewards are a necessity!! MRS. GESSEL’S SCHEDULE
3:00 to 4:00—nap 4:00 to 6:00—fix dinner; eat; clean up 6:00 to 7:00—correct essays 7:00 to 8:00—watch TV and exercise. 8:00 to 9:00—free time or lesson prep Correct essays during commercials if watching TV 9:00 to 9:30—read scriptures 9:30—get ready for bed

7 Keep a time diary For the next two days, keep track of how you spend your free time Notice where you can “find” extra time Make note of your physical state Are you always tired when you do homework? Why?

8 Make Out a Weekly Schedule
For one week, write down everything (except going to the bathroom) that you plan to do during each day.

9 How to Manage DREADED TASKS
Do them in small amounts Reward yourself often For Example: 20 Math questions Do 2, then play ten tries at Angry Birds. Repeat until task is down 20 pages of reading Read 5 pages, play a game of solitaire If I get ______ done by 9 p.m. then I can talk to ___________ for 30 minutes.
