Homework Staff and parents’ expectations carry great weight in motivating pupils to do homework and your child will benefit when the school and home have similar goals and are working together. The time a Primary 7 pupil should be spending on homework is approximately 2 hours per week, from Mon-Thurs. The time given is a guideline only. It is given in a weekly amount to enable parents and pupils to organise their time effectively. If your child is having repeated difficulty in completing homework in that time then please contact your child’s teacher to discuss this further.
17
Homework Homework should:
Allow practice and consolidation of work completed in class. Allow preparation for future classwork. Offer access to resources not available in school. Help develop time management skills Develop research skills. Develop good habits and self-discipline. Encourage responsibility for learning. Create a channel for home/school liaison.
