Bones and Muscles – they work
Together to provide structure, Support and a means of Locomotion .Also produce blood Cells.
8
Locomotion =movement. Skeletal and muscular Systems work together To allow us to move. Function – to provide Protection, support and the Means for locomotion.
9
Bones – provide anchor sites
For muscles, protection and Support, also bone marrow Produces blood cells _ 216 bones in our body We have an endoskeleton = Inside the body.
11
Joints – bone to bone Connections – ex. Knee joint Ligaments – thin, fiberous strip That connect bones. EX = the ACL of the knee
14
ACL Acl is often torn
15
Cartilage – cushions at bone
To bone connections (joints)
16
Cartilage
17
Cartilage is often damaged,
Torn at joints like the knee, It plays a very important role in providing protection and Cushioning where bone meets Bone (joint).
18
Tendons – connect muscle to
Bones.
20
Feel the back of your knee or
The back of your ankle for A large tendon tendon
21
Patellar tendon knee surg.
23
Muscle types Skeletal muscle – also known as Striated or voluntary muscle, They operate in pairs, one Contracts and the other Extends – ex.=bicep & tricep
24
Smooth or visceral muscle –
Involuntary – lines the Digestive tract. (peristalsis ) Cardiac muscle – found only in The heart
25
Muscle type Pictures, ooo000
26
Tendonitis – severly strained,
Damaged, stressed tendon, Difficulty moving, very pain- Full. Arthritis – inflamed joints, Very painful, doesn’t just Happen to old people – old Injuries can cause it.
