Chapters 1-8 Vocab. Epilogue- a section at the end of a book that serves as a conclusion to what has happened. Prologue- a separate introductory section of a book. Axis- a real or imaginary straight line going through the center of an object that is spinning. Contemplation- deep reflective thought. Disheartened- cause (someone) to lose determination or confidence. Implore- beg someone earnestly or desperately to do something. Primly- formal, precise, or proper referring to a person or their behavior; neat Recede- go or move back or further away from a previous position. Rueful- expressing sorrow or regret, especially when in a slightly humorous way. Venture- a risky or daring journey

Chapters 21- Epilogue Accomplice- a person who helps another commit a crime. Arc- a part of the circumference of a circle or other curve. Ebb- gradually lessen or reduce. Impulse- a sudden strong and unreflective urge or desire to act. Indefinitely- for an unlimited or unspecified period of time. Ponderous- dull, laborious, or excessively solemn; slow and clumsy because of great weight. Pry- inquire too closely into a person's private affairs. Profoundly- to a very great extent; extremely. Soothing- having a gently calming effect.
