5 Nuts and bolts. Consider: Are you provisionally registered? *
Do you have a letter of appointment and a clear job description? Are you receiving the correct pay? Are you receiving an Advice and Guidance programme- Do you have a tutor teacher – has application been made for release time? Do you have a mentor or professional support person you can use?

6 Criteria for registration Satisfactory teacher dimensions
Nuts and bolts. Consider: Are you keeping clear records? * How well do you know your school and school systems? What will you do if you feel overwhelmed, or that things are not going well? 7 Create a supportive learning environment
While there is no formula that will guarantee learning for every student in every context, there is extensive well documented evidence about the kinds of teaching approaches that consistently have a positive impact on student learning. This evidence tells us that students learn best when teachers: Create a supportive learning environment Encourage reflective thought and action Enhance the relevance of new learning Facilitate shared learning Make connections to prior learning and experience Provide sufficient opportunities to learn Inquire into the teaching learning environment. What would a “supportive learning environment where children are actively engaged in learning” look like? What do we as teachers have to do to facilitate this? What do we have to know? What do we have to be?
