4 Background Supracondylar fractures of the humerus are common and constitutes about 58% of elbow fractures in Children 97-99% are extension type of injuries Are emergencies with high risk of neurovascular compromise. Fracture reduction and percutaneous pin fixation under fluoroscopy augmented with immobilization for at least three weeks is the standard treatment for Gartlands typeII and III . Insufficient data about operative treatment outcomes in Uganda.

9 Methods Study Design: Prospective study
Study population: Children aged years with Gartlands type III supracondylar fractures of the humerus who had open reduction and cross pinning done without fluoroscopy. Sample size: 12 patients were followed up for 3-4 weeks , 8 males and 4 females. Structured quetionears used to capture demographic, clinical and radiological data

13 Conclusion 8 patients had satisfactory results
Few patients with unsatisfactory results and non of them could be considered catastrophic

14 Study limitations Bowman's angle could not be measured due to un standardized x-rays.

15 Recommendation A prospective follow up of more patients will be required to provide more evidence.
