3 Terms in Quechua Ayllu: In the Inca empire, a small rural clan in the Andean highlands, owning its own land, which its members worked in common; in the Spanish empire and later, it meant an Indian village. Inca: Literally, chief; in the pre-Conquest Andean highlands, the ruling dynasty

5 Sapa Inca: In the Inca Empire, the God King and Supreme Ruler, the emperor.

6 Apo: In the Inca empire, a territorial governor; appointed by the emperor and directly under him. There were four such governors, one for each quarter of the empire
