ACT Alberta Our Mission
ACT Alberta will increase knowledge and awareness on human trafficking, advocate for effective rights based responses, build capacity of all involved stakeholders, and lead and foster collaboration for joint action against human trafficking. Founded in 2010 to respond to all forms of human trafficking in the province. Project housed within Changing Together - a Centre for Immigrant Women located in Edmonton Environmental Scan “Trafficking of Women and Girls to Canada” found trafficking to be inadequately addressed. ACT Alberta was formally founded as a not-for profit agency and registered charity 2010.

Our Activities What We Do
Coordinate services for victims of human trafficking Manage a Victims Assistance Fund Train and educate stakeholders Engage and educate the public Research and collect data on human trafficking Help develop policy provincially and nationally Build capacity for community-based responses All for the purposes of identifying and assisting victims of human trafficking.

Service providers Private sector Legal sector Academics Unions Organizations mainly in Alberta, but also across Canada and internationally Who we’re funded by: Government of Alberta E.g. Human Services; Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Federal Government E.g. Justice Canada; Status of Women; Public Safety Some private donations and small scale fundraisers
