2 Graphic Design: (–noun)
The art or profession of visual communication that combines images, words, and ideas to convey information to an audience, esp. to produce a specific effect. "graphic design." Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. 17 Jan <Dictionary.com design>.

3 Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the computer as a design tool. Students will learn the basics of digital graphics through Adobe Photoshop CS6. Students will learn manipulation, image creation, drawing, page layout and typography.. After learning about each of these components separately, students will combine all applications to create business materials and unique pieces of digital art.

4 Grading: Students will be graded on; projects (60%), daily participation/ productivity (20%), in class assignments, homework and quizzes (20%). Projects will be given a letter grade and will be graded on creativity, craftsmanship and overall design. Any project or assignment turned in late will lose one half of a grade for each day it is late, unless there is an excused absence. I believe in improvement and always putting forth your best effort. You always have the opportunity to redo a project if you are unsatisfied with the grade, providing that the original project was initially turned in complete and on time.
