19 Introduction to SmarterMeasure
SM is a Learning Readiness Indicator provided by SmarterServices Assessment Uses a Sequence of Activities Measures the degree to which students possess the non-cognitive skills needed for success in an online, hybrid or technology-rich on- campus course Does not rely on simple self-assessment questions Immediate score and diagnostic interpretation of results to the student and to their college Major benefits: Identify at-risk students, Increase Retention and Directs Students to resources and remediation SM is an assessment that uses a sequence of activities to measure the degree to which students possess the non-cognitive skills needed for success in an online, hybrid or technology-rich on-campus course SM does not rely on simple self-assessment questions with obvious "right" and "wrong" answers. SmarterMeasure provides an immediate score and diagnostic interpretation of results to the student and to their college. Major benefit: Identify at-risk students, Increase Retention and Directs Students to resources and remediation

Individual Attributes - motivation, procrastination, willingness to ask for help, etc. Life Factors - Availability of time, support from family and employers, finances, etc. Learning styles - Based on the multiple intelligences model Technical Competency - Skills using technology Technical Knowledge - Knowledge of technology terms On-screen Reading Rate and Recall Typing Speed and Accuracy SmarterMeasure includes seven major assessment components which measure: Individual Attributes - motivation, procrastination, willingness to ask for help, etc. Life Factors - Availability of time, support from family and employers, finances, etc. Learning styles - Based on the multiple intelligences model Technical Competency - Skills using technology Technical Knowledge - Knowledge of technology terms On-screen Reading Rate and Recall Typing Speed and Accuracy

21 Student Success with 11% reduction in failure rates in online courses
Online grades of those who had taken the LRI were, in fact, significantly higher (average GPA of 2.87), than the grades of those who had not taken the assessment (average GPA 2.44). Less than 10% of students classified w/low readiness went on to achieve academic success Life Factors & Individual Attributes are the most predictive sections regarding academic success
