Lea County has invested over $80 million in roadway infrastructure in recent years Over last 5 years, Lea County has completed paving or major thoroughfare reconstruction on over 55 roadways throughout the county. Thoroughfares improved include: Maljamar Delaware Basin Orla Battle-Ax X-L Brinistool Many of these roadways have over 2,000 ADT per day with approximately 72% being heaving traffic

Future construction will include improving various intersections around county This month we will begin the widening and rehabilitation of Texas Ave west of Eunice. A portion of Weaver roadway west of Eunice is also planned for rehabilitation in the next 12 month. Other Transportation Projects NMDOT – US 82 from Artesia to Lovington NMDOT – NM 18 Pavement and accel/decal lanes (Eunice) NMDOT – NM 529 Pavement Rehab and Widening

8 Roadway and ROW Permitting
Temporary, Interim, and Permanent Utility Right-of-Way permitting is handled through the Lea County Road Department personnel. Allow temp. line in culverts and cattle guards for no more than 30 days. Allow for surface lines in ROW for no more than 270 days Available casing in place of several roadway to aid Energy sector Driveway permits Required on all roadways entering county roadways All non-residential entry points require an asphalt, concrete, or alternative approved surface at driveway location.
