3 1.ABSTRACT Monitoring and control of greenhouse environment play an significant role in Agriculture production and management. To monitor the greenhouse environment parameters effectively, it is necessary to design a control system. Here controlling process takes place effectively by both manual and automatic manner. For manual control purpose, XBee wireless network is used, which will send status of greenhouse environment automatic control process to control room. There we can control the activities through controller which is in greenhouse environment. There it will activates the actuator according to our wish. The main objective is to design a simple, easy to install, microcontroller- based circuit to monitor humidity. We use ARM controller to control the motor.

4 2. OBJECTIVES The aim of this project is to provide an efficient solution for automatic control of irrigation motor for illiterates.. So it is our responsibility to design few reliable systems which can be even efficiently used by them. This basic idea gave birth to the project is wireless control of a motor. Here the automation process is done through the micro controller based technology. In our project we make use of one microcontroller, which is dedicated at the water pump. The microcontroller forms the heart of the device. A relay switch to which irrigation motor is connected which is operated through microcontroller. The communication is done with XBee.

7 4. METHODOLOGY: A general block diagram of the proposed scheme is given in Figure .The whole system is divided into two parts-transmitter and receiver. In the transmitter part a key input is provided to control the Motor present at the plant location .The pressed key input is simultaneously fed to the ARM7. This is transmitted efficiently and smoothly to receiver end through wireless XBee Communication Protocol (IEEE Standards). The ARM7 at the transmitter end is so programmed that to identify pressed key for the Motor come out of the desired or safety limit, a signal will be generated by the ARM7 . All the processor and controllers are interconnected through XBee. An 32-bit ARM Processor has been used to interface the IEEE standard, XBee protocol. It is useful to farmers to control the motors in the field.

8 5. ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES: ADVANTAGES:
1. Unnecessary wastage of electricity can be controlled to a greater extend. 2. Maximum power can be saved. 3. Selectable Sensitivity, Sensitivity can be adjusted to match installation requirements. 4. Wide supply voltage range: 3.0V to 15V in COMPARATOR. DISADVANTAGES: 1.High capital expenditure required to invest in automation (an automated system can cost millions of dollars to design, fabricate, and install). 2.A higher level of maintenance needed than with a manually operated machine, and a generally lower degree of flexibility in terms of the possible products as compared with a manual system.

6.APPLICATIONS: 1. Utilized for irrigation purpose. 2. Very useful for illiterates operation. 3. Can be operated from any place in the world. 4. No need of manual check for moisture level in soil. 5. User friendly.

CONCLUSION: An novel approach in designing the microcontroller based system and XBee wireless sensor network for measurement and control of the essential parameters for plant growth, i.e. humidity, has been followed. The results obtained have shown that the system performance is quite consistent and accurate. The system has successfully overcome quite a few shortcomings of the existing systems by reducing the power consumption, maintenance and complexity, at the same time providing a flexible and precise form of maintaining the environment.
