3. What is air pollution
Air pollution is the “contamination of the atmosphere by harmful chemicals or biological materials.”

4. Why is it a problem
Air pollution can have a big negative impact on your health. However there are many more effects of pollution (environmental, economic, etc)
People inhale the chemical pollutants in the air and cause them to become sick.

5. Health Problems Air pollution causes my health problems.
“The diseases caused by pollution impose great economic costs on countries around the world- direct medical costs, opportunity costs reflection the diminished productivity of populations damaged by pollution, and costs to health care systems.
The pollution in the air can cause immediate health problems.

6. Immediate health problems
Cardiovascular
Respiratory
Stress on heart and lungs
Damage cells

7. Permanent health effects
Accelerated aging of lungs
Loss of lung capacity
Decrease in lung function
Asthma
Bronchitis
Emphysema
Cancer
Shortened life span

8. Risks
Air pollution puts you at risk for acute and chronic respiratory disease
Pollution can even in some cases cause death.
With the use of widely used synthetic chemicals, additional diseases and disabilities may occur.
Air pollution is responsible for 1 million pre mature deaths and 1 million pre-native death each year.

9. Call to action
The World Health Organization (WHO) should get funding to help people cure and treat diseases caused by air pollution
They should also help reduce the amount of air pollution.
