Social Sciences Social Sciences are the disciplines that study human social behavior or institutions and functions of human society in a scientific manner

Anthropology The comparative study of past and present cultures.
Focuses on societies of the past and that are less advanced.

Psychology The study of the mind and behavior of organisms.
It focuses on the individual behavior rather than the group behavior.

Economics The study of the choices people make in an effort to satisfy their needs and wants.

Political Science The examination or study of the organization and the operation of government. Examples are voting patterns, political power, and the formation of politically based groups.

History The study of past events.
Historians study the past in an effort to explain current behaviors.

Sociology The social science that studies human society and social behavior. Sociologists focus on groups rather than individuals. They also focus on social interaction
