4 STI Epidemiology Prevalence of Syphilis in MSM (from HIV Sentinel Surveillance 2008, National STI survey) 14.1 But from STI survey 2011, it was still high in Yangon 15% (44/300) In MDY, there is only 0.3% (2/300)

5 Findings from Survey 2011 FSW
In both regions prevalence of STI infection was higher than presentation of signs or a history of symptoms E.g. Most FSW in Yangon had gonorrheal and chlamydial infections, but urethral discharge was seen in only 3% (9 out of 302). more than half of FSW 56% participants in Yangon had syphilis infection but less than a third had signs or a history of ulcers or sores
