You’ve heard The Journey So Far Today you have contributed to the future directions Why does DCC see this as being so important How do you take the message about our Strategic Directions back to your congregation?

6 What DCC needs you to take back to your congregations
All those things you’ve heard today that should be shared and celebrated, that can energise our Church The vibrant nature of faith formation that is occurring in ways that we might not be able to imagine in every local setting That your congregation is part of the LCA VIC / TAS and there are many ways to support and contribute to the District’s ministry including prayerfully and financially

7 How are we going to equip you to do this ?
We will provide delegates with a summarised set of slides for use with church councils and your congregational members DCC members will continue visiting congregations Taking DCC to regional areas – an opportunity for local leaders from schools and congregations to engage Considering how we leverage the cluster groups used in the District Visitation Program 2016

10 DCC presentation of Sponsorship Program
Pages 53-54

11 3.1 District Sponsorship Program
Proposal Be it resolved that Convention supports the establishment of a District Sponsorship Program (DSP) to replace the single District Appeal between Conventions and that the DSP be focussed at supporting the District’s Strategic Initiative #1, specifically Youth and Young Adult Ministry and Church Planting.

12 Reason for the proposal
DCC Strategic Directions: Explore Funding models and sources for the District in addition to congregation giving The reality of congregational giving A single appeal does not provide a sustainable model People like to give to tangible causes

13 The proposed model Allows for groups (eg: congregation, small group) or individuals to choose to sponsor an initiative In return sponsors will receive: A certificate that can be displayed Quarterly updates on the ministry area that can be shared to energise and encourage others Sponsorship targets as outlined on page 54

16 CHURCH PLANTING “Church Planting” is something that Lutherans have always done. The Great Command to Make Disciples is the Command to Plant Churches When you think of church planting, don’t think of another option in a shopping mall food court, think of a new farm in a starving country. (Dean Eaton)

17 CHURCH PLANTING - $20,000 target
Church Planting is good for the established church. When the story of the Church Planting mission at Lakeside became known, the Mortlake congregation, even as it closed, derived inspiration and hope from its decision to donate proceeds from its church building sale to district church planting missions. Mortlake’s gift makes them ‘partners’ in the future of the church.

18 CHURCH PLANTING - $20,000 target
This is your chance to be partners in the future of the Church at: Pakenham-Lakeside St Phillips Werribee

19 This is your chance to be part of something BIG and the FUTURE of our Church.
Sponsorship targets as outlined on page 54

20 Proposal Be it resolved that Convention supports the establishment of a District Sponsorship Program (DSP) to replace the single District Appeal between Conventions and that the DSP be focused at supporting the District’s Strategic Initiative #1, specifically Youth and Young Adults Ministry and Church Planting.
