Climates change often in California and as time passes species became extinct. Luckily there is still one large species living today: California’s coast redwood trees. Redwoods date back about 240 million years, once growing throughout Europe, North America and Asia, even extending into Australia. As hard as it is to believe this, but Redwood Trees not only grow in large groups, but they are also used for things like garages. A car can fit into their trunk! Gymnosperm

From ‘ Thick cinnamon red bark is 12"-18" thick and contains tannic acid which protects it from fire and insects. Squirrels and other animals play a big roll in seed distribution.
