Counting activities - how many teddies, setting the table, how many more plates do I need?
Adding and taking away - sharing sweets, how many fish fingers on the plate, ducks on a pond. Reception Activities Recognising numbers in the environment - numbers on buses, coins, house numbers. Counting rhymes - 1,2,3,4,5 once I caught a fish alive, 10 green bottles, 5 currant buns in a bakers shop. Time - time of day (morning, afternoon, evening), days of the week, months of the year, when is your birthday, which day do we go swimming? Shape - recognise shape of square, triangle, circle, oblong (rectangle) around us, such as road signs, envelopes, plates and place mats. Talk to children for at least 5 minutes about their day at school. What have they enjoyed doing and why? When reading a story discuss the character or the setting. What is it/they like? Reading/labels within the environment on tins, boxes, road signs and shops. Can you find 4 different sized shoes in your house and put them in order of size? What else can you find to order my length? When walking in the park discuss the flowers you see around. What has happened to them? How have they grown?
