Climate Change Crisis Students will watch a video in EdPuzzle and answer discussion questions on their paper. Click on the Environmental Science tab. Click on the Puzzle Piece icon It will take you to the EdPuzzle Video “What is Climate Change.” 5. Watch the video and answer the questions on your loose-leaf paper. Turn your paper in at the end of the class. M Causes and Effects You are going to create a presentation explaining five major causes and five major effects of climate change. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Pick up a laptop Go to the SHS 9th Grade Website. Click on “Library.” Click on “Databases for Research.” Click on “GALE Group.” Use the GALE database to search for images related to the causes and effects of climate change. Create a PowerPoint outlining 5 causes/5 effects, with a minimum of 10 slides. Present your PowerPoint to the class. Take notes during your classmate’s presentations and be prepared to discuss. 5 Renewable Resources Commercial
Students will research renewable energy sources and use Tellegami to create a commercial promoting the energy source that would be most useful to our area. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Pick up an iPad. Go to the SHS 9th Grade website, go to “Library,” “Renewable Resources.” Research renewable resources and take notes on the following: Startup Costs Pro’s and Con’s Problems with this resource Future Sustainability 4. Analyze your findings, and decide which resource you think would be most beneficial to Southwest Louisiana. 5. Write one paragraph defending your resource, citing evidence from your research. (minimum 5 sentences) 6. Use the Tellegami app to record yourself reading your paragraph, as if you were filming a commercial to promote its use in our area. 7. Save your Tellegami to your iPad and write down your name and iPad number on the log sheet.
