EU Ship Recycling Regulation
Article 1: This Regulation also aims to facilitate the ratification of the Hong Kong Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships. Recital (12): When interpreting the requirements of this Regulation, consideration should be given to the guidelines developed by the IMO to support the Hong Kong Convention.

Ensure that EU Regulation is useful in interim period Ensure that Hong Kong compliant yards in third countries are included in the EU list Encourage and support yards in third countries aspiring to be Hong Kong compliant Encourage EU shipping companies to recycle in yards that are Hong Kong compliant Maintain open dialogue with all parties concerned
