How to improve exposure for your club events/fundraisers/service projects
2
How we use to communicate
3
What the social media platforms mean
4
WHY IS SOCIAL MEDIA IMPORTANT?
With more than 1 billion active users, Facebook is the largest social network in the world. More than two-thirds of its users log in every day and three-fourths do so on a mobile device. Without a doubt your club’s supporters use Facebook on a regular basis. Therefore, Facebook Pages should be your first priority and entry into social networking.
5
WHY SOCIAL MEDIA? Helps interest new potential members
Serves as advertising for your fundraisers Creates greater community awareness about Altrusa and the good your club is doing. However, to stand out from the other 50 million pages regularly active and all vying for likes, comments, and shares, you must excel at Facebook.
6
First Impressions count
Make sure your Profile Picture, Timeline Cover, and Tab Icons are good clear images that reflect Altrusa’s goals. First impressions are very important on social networks. To maximize the Likes of your page, use only quality graphics.
7
Increasing your page likes
Turn on “Similar Page Suggestions” to increase your Likes. Under Settings > Similar Page Suggestions, click the box to include your page when Facebook recommends similar pages. This simple tweak could become your greatest source of new Likes.
8
BEST TIMES TO POST Post on Saturday and Sunday mornings using the native scheduling function. Post at least 1-2 times a day, use scheduling Clicks and engagement is best between 1-3. Viewing is highest on Saturday and Sunday mornings and thanks to Facebook’s native scheduling function your club can easily schedule weekend posts in advance. Click in the Status box to put what you want to say/show, then click on the clock icon to set when it should appear.
9
What should you post to get your audience engaged with you
Photos over just plain text has proven to be the best way to get more engagement with your message/ posts Make it personal… share your message. Who, What, When Why. Motivate them. Post motivating information, quotes and positive information. Service Projects
10
Keep important things at the top
Occasionally “Pin to Top” popular Updates. To bring attention to popular and important posts already shared, pin it to the top of your page. Click on the down arrow at the top of the post to show this set of options.
11
Activate messaging Allow people to send you direct messages.
So that you can receive private messages, turn on the messaging functionality. In Settings, under Messages check the box.
12
Planning for change Have more than one Admin for your Page.
To protect your club/district from losing access to its page, have at least two Admins with full privileges. This way if someone moves away, drops out of the club for any reason, someone else still has access to the page.
13
Location information Add an address to your page to add Facebook Location. To enable people to check-in to your page and thus share your page with their friends when they check-in, add your physical address to your page. This is particularly useful when you are holding a fundraiser, and setting up an event page – be sure to put the address of the location. Use Events pages to promote your special events.
14
Tag partners for greater exposure
Be sure to mention any partners for your project by name. This is especially useful if they have a Facebook page themselves, as then your post will also show on their page and all of their followers will see it. You can also use hashtags when naming partners, for example: #GoodsamaritansofGarland. Entries like this will also show in Twitter feeds.
15
Make sure everyone helps Just Like the Phone TREE we use to use
Educate your members that they need to SHARE your events, and stories about service to their own Facebook timelines, so you get greater exposure. If you have 20 members, and they all share to their timelines, and each of them has 20 non-repeating friends, that gets you 400 people reached. If some of your partners share, it just grows and grows in impact.
