19 Bits & Pieces

20 Application Look online or in the catalog of the college you are wanting to apply to see where to locate the application. Many colleges use the Texas Common Application: Most colleges strongly encourage online applications. If there is a “waiver of access” for you to sign, we recommend you sign it (colleges prefer this so that your information will be more objective)

21 Transcripts Submit a request for transcripts to the College Advisor.
Fill out any Financial Aid application that is associated with application.

22 Recommendation Letters
Be sure to give your teachers, counselors or anyone else writing your letters plenty of time (at least 2 weeks) to get them written. Provide your letter writer with enough information to be able to write a good letter! The counselors need two school weeks to get the letter written and sent off. Provide stamped envelopes to the writer.

23 Counselor/School Official Information
If an application calls for a school official to complete a section, your counselor or college advisor can do that. Bring everything you need to the counselor at least two weeks prior to the deadline: Stamped envelope Transcript(s)

24 Check Deadlines! **If you have a letter due at the end of December or in January, be sure you get everything to the counselor or college advisor by December 1st! Otherwise, you risk it not getting finished.** No letters will be written over break.

25 Resources for Scholarships
