3 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Hardware
ABB i-bus® KNX Modular DIN-rail component (MDRC) Mounting width 4 1 DALI channel 64 DALI participants including DALI emergency ballasts acc. IEC 16 DALI lighting groups controlled via KNX 110… 230 V AC/DC operating voltage Integrated DALI-power supply Channel-test, KNX independents Note: Same Hardware as DG/S STO/G – Slide 3

4 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Normal DALI lighting
Based on DALI Gateway DG/S 64 DALI participants Normal DALI participants are controlled via 16 lighting groups Independent switching, dimming and setting of a brightness value Additional functions: Slave and staircase lighting Scenes and a sequencer are available Monitoring DALI failures per group or participant via KNX (in part with coded communication objects) No overlapping DALI lighting groups STO/G – Slide 4

5 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1. 16
DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S Self-contained emergency lighting *) self-contained emergency devices acc. IEC DALI emergency converters*) and normal DALI devices can be combined as required Emergency test (e.g. function test, duration test, and battery capacity information) can be triggered via KNX Test results will be sent back from the emergency converter to DALI and over the DGN/S to KNX Emergency tests can be triggered and stopped via KNX Building management system triggers emergency tests and documents the test results STO/G – Slide 5

6 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Additional Functions
DALI emergency converters and normal DALI devices can be combined as required STO/G – Slide 6

7 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Basic Characteristics
Map 16 DALI groups with 64 DALI devices on KNX Thereby lighting groups with a great number of DALI devices can be controlled simultaneously A DALI device could be a member only in one DALI lighting group (No overlapping DALI lighting groups, use KNX group allocations) DALI devices can be controlled via KNX only with 16 lighting groups Programming work is minimized Great possibilities to visualize DALI failures via KNX Per group a lamp-, ballast- or lamp / ballast failure can assigned With coded status object you have the possibility to assign the failure status of each of the 64 DALI devices By means of separate objects the full range of DALI failures and the group or device number of the faulty DALI device will be sent to KNX The failure telegrams can be blocked via 1 bit communication object. STO/G – Slide 7

8 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Basic Characteristics
Set Power On level of the DALI device via KNX This brightness value (Power On level) is stored in the ballast and is thus set immediately after the ballast operating voltage recovery. Set DALI fading time via KNX Special lighting time settings, e.g. for coloured lighting, can be controlled flexibly and individually via a central visualization for the project 14 Light scenes Recall scene via 1byte KNX scene object or 1bit telegram Store individual brightness of scenes via KNX Via parameter automatic DALI address assignment can be inhibited DGN/S does not change the DALI address of DALI devices automatically DALI light characteristic adjustment DALI light characteristic can be linearised. Such it is possible to increase the resolution of the KNX control signal STO/G – Slide 8

9 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Basic Characteristics
Slave function Inclusion of a DALI gateway in energy efficient lighting control systems Reaction on switch, dim, scene and brightness commands can be parameterised Sequence function Up to 10 scenes can be linked together Repetition of the sequence between 1 and 254 times or endless Light effects and running lights can be realized without additional time or logic devices Staircase lighting function Warning before light turned off Basic brightness Burn In function is available During the phase of commissioning of electrical discharge lamps it is possible to allow the switching of the lamps only with 0% or 100% brightness STO/G – Slide 9

10 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Basic Characteristics
Per lighting group an individual time curve can be adjusted Staircase brightness and basic brightness are adjustable ( ) Time for dimming up, staircase time, time for dimming down and runtime basic brightness are individually adjustable ( s) Reaction on dim, scene and brightness commands can be parameterised STO/G – Slide 10

11 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Emergency lighting tests
The different mandatory tests are controlled by KNX communication objects The test sequence is subsequently monitored by KNX communication objects, and the results are transferred by further communication objects on KNX A other possibility is the use of an automated test interval which is controlled by the DALI emergency lighting converter itself The interval duration can be determined by the KNX parameter KNX communication objects (2byte-4byte) transmit the results STO/G – Slide 11

12 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Emergency lighting tests
Function test The function test is undertaken by the emergency lighting converter itself The function test is requested at a parameterizable interval in the emergency lighting converter or by a KNX communication object The operational reliability of the emergency lighting converter electronics and correct function of a lamp and a switch-over device for an individual battery are tested Duration test The duration test is used to determine whether the individual battery of the system is within the limits of the rated operating duration in case of emergency lighting operation. Partial duration test The partial duration test is controlled (start and stop) by the Gateway The partial duration test is not stipulated or described by the standards It simply offers an additional and enhanced possibility for faster availability of emergency lighting in a simple and time efficient way without completely discharging the battery STO/G – Slide 12

14 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Slave emergency lighting
Independent of normal emergency situation (230V fault) the DGN/S can switch on the normal lighting with a special slave-emergency brightness Slave emergency situation triggered by DGN/S itself Criteria for slave emergency situation could be Number of ballast or lamp fault Number of emergency converter fault Fault of Gateway supply voltage Transfer slave emergency situation to other KNX participants Condition KNX available DGN/S is ready for operation (230V gateway supply voltage is available) Emergency – lighting level triggered by DGN/S STO/G – Slide 14

15 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 DALI Commissioning Tool
DGN/S-Tool Software Shows the existing DALI participants and its fault status Detection of all DALI participants either normal DALI ballast or DALI emergency converter Assignment of DALI devices to DALI groups If the emergency controller supports the variation of emergency brightness, it can be changed with the tool STO/G – Slide 15

16 DALI Gateway Emergency Lighting DGN/S 1.16.1 Short Description
Application Control of normal DALI illumination with 16 lighting groups via KNX, same as ABB i-bus KNX DALI Gateway DG/S Additional gateway function between KNX and emergency devices acc. IEC Activate self-contained emergency test cycles and send back test results to KNX Controlling must be triggered and test results must be stored by superior emergency controller unit Benefits Controlling of normal and emergency illumination only via one KNX system Great flexibility and simple commissioning from planning up to completion Open and standardised emergency DALI communication to KNX STO/G – Slide 16
